Papillon Dog Breed Information and Personality Traits

Papillon Dog Breed Information, Pictures, Characteristics & Facts – DogTime
Known as happy, outgoing dogs, papillons enjoy sitting in laps as much as they like running around the house. Although lively and energetic, they are not considered high-strung or nervous and are easy to care for. The papillon is a descendant of a European toy spaniel. Also, interestingly, it has no doggy odor.

Papillons: What's Good About 'Em, What's Bad About 'Em
The Papillon dog breed descends from the toy spaniels that are frequently portrayed in paintings by the Old Masters, from as far back as the 16th century. Even though these are purebred dogs, you may find them in the care of shelters or rescue groups. They do, however, love companionship and will always try to be where their humans are.

The AKC has grouped all of the breeds that it registers into seven categories, or groups, roughly based on function and heritage. Breeds are grouped together because they share traits of form and function or a common heritage. The Papillon is a small, friendly, elegant toy dog of fine-boned structure, light, dainty and of lively action; distinguished from other breeds by its beautiful butterfly-like ears. Eyes dark, round, not bulging, of medium size and alert in expression.
